Client case study: tiles for a stylish Wimbledon renovation project

With a wealth of industry knowledge and experience, our tile showroom specialists can be relied upon to dispense invaluable advice alongside an extensive collection of sophisticated and high quality tiles: a stylish tiled interior is within your reach when you come to Ceramica Tiles.

Like many of our Wimbledon tile showroom’s clients, Karen and Anthony Bartlett were looking for tiles for various different rooms within their spacious Victorian property which they had recently purchased.

Read on to see how our Wimbledon team provided the Bartletts with the perfect tiles for their project:

Please describe your property

KB: Our house is situated in the Old Merton Park area – it’s a lovely Victorian property with high ceilings, bay windows and many of the original features still intact.  When we looked around it we saw the potential to modernise the interior to suit our family and lifestyle.

We immediately took down a dividing wall downstairs to create a fabulous 23ft x 17ft open plan kitchen/family room with bi-fold doors which leads directly onto our terrace and garden. Decoratively the house was a bit dated and had scruffy old carpet throughout so we wanted to take that up straight away.

Tell us about the exterior and entrance of your property

AB:  We wanted to sympathetically restore the front path, entrance and hallway with traditional Victorian style floor tiles as other homeowners have done – unfortunately the original period tiles had long been taken up.  So in in order to capture the style of the era, we chose classic black and ivory geometric tiles from Ceramica’s Turin collection which are frost-proof and suitable for outdoors as well as indoors.

Tell us about your amazing kitchen/diner and family space

KB: This is probably our favourite room in the house – and where we spend most time as a family.  It’s a really great space and we wanted to do it justice, so we opted for Ceramica’s large format Tribeca tiles on the floor – they’re a fantastic earthy grey-ish clay colour which looks great with our modern and minimal white kitchen units and we’ve got underfloor heating. On the wall, between the lower and upper units, we opted for corresponding mosaic tiles.

And moving upstairs, please tell us about your ensuite shower room

KB: We decided to create a really opulent ensuite leading from our master bedroom so we opted for Estatuario tiles which resemble grey and white Carrara marble – they look great with our spacious walk in shower and chandelier and we couldn’t be happier with our home!
